Apocynum Venetum
Apocynum venetum, or 'Luobuma' in Chinese, is a traditional and popular Chinese herb with a long history of use as a medicine and tea for healthy blood pressure, cholesterol, and dizziness. Its effect on blood pressure is gradual yet long-lasting. Apocynum has been studied in animals and is being tested in human trials. Most of the studies show Apocynum to have blood pressure lowering potential and also, like many herbs, has antioxidant activity.

Gastrodia Elata BL.
Gastrodia was first mentioned in an old Chinese medical book around A.D. 100. Gastrodia is said to have sedative and analgesic properties. Research has indicated that an active compound in Gastrodia, gastrodin, may exert a sedative, hypnotic, and antispasmodic effects in animals. It may also increase blood flow and decrease the peripheral resistance.

Ginkgo Biloba L.
Ginkgo can increase blood flow to the head and extremities. Ginkgo has anti-inflammatory effects and reduces blood clots, reducing the risk of stroke. It has antioxidant properties and strengthens blood vessels.

Gynostemma Pentaphyllum
Gynostemma Pentaphyllum (Jiaogulan) is an adaptogen and contains over 80 kinds of saponins, known as gypenosides. Gypenosides are similar to the ginsenosides and panaxosides in Asian ginseng. Jiaogulan has demonstrated beneficial effect on blood pressure regulation, immune system, fat metabolism, cholesterol levels, and physical endurance.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Pueraria Root is used in prescriptions for stomach discomforts, thirst, headache, and stiff neck with pain due to high blood pressure.

Uncaria Rhynchophulla
Uncaria is a common herb used in traditional Chinese medicine for blood pressure support. Studies suggest that Uncaria may inhibit vasomotor center activities, relax peripheral vessels, block adrenergic nerve, and inhibit nerve ending transmitter releasing. These effects reduce total peripheral vascular resistance and cardiac output induced by lowered heart rate.
